To ensure stability of your computing environment, HP is providing an adapter identification utility to enable customers to identify potentially affected adapters. Adapters identified by the utility will be replaced by HP. To determine if your adapters are affected and are eligible for replacement, download and run one of the following utilities, based on your operating system:
- Windows: MACUTIL
(SP41195 - HP NC364T Adapter Identification Utility for Windows version 1.03)
MACUTIL is a Windows-based program that collects pertinent information from ProLiant servers running either Windows or Linux operating systems via the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). A ProLiant server running a Windows or Linux operating system can be inspected for the presence of a potentially affected network adapter from a remote PC workstation. A status of "OK" or "REPLACE" will be returned.
- Linux or VMware: nic.sh or ifcheck
(SP41238 - HP NC364T Adapter Identification Utility for Linux version 1.03)
nic.sh (Remote Linux/VMware script) and ifcheck (Linux/VMware MAC address check utility) is designed to work on both x86 and x86_64 based Linux systems and on systems running Vmware. After specifying one or MAC addresses to evaluate, the ifcheck utility will respond with either "Replace" if the NIC needs to be replaced, or "OK" if the NIC is not affected. When using multiple MAC addresses, each address is evaluated and a status is printed.
- DOS: NICCHECK
(SP40251 - HP NC364T Adapter Identification Utility for DOS version 1.00)
NICCHECK will detect if there are any NC364T NICs in the system that may need to be replaced. If no affected NC364T NICs are found, a message, There are no NC364T NICs found in this system, will be displayed, and the program will exit. If affected NICs are found, a status of "OK" or "REPLACE" will print.
Visual inspection for optional adapters not currently installed in ProLiant servers:
The adapter identification utility can be run remotely or as a standalone tool. To determine if optional adapters that have not yet been installed in ProLiant servers are eligible for replacement, download the adapter identification utility and using an application such as Windows Notepad, create a sequential list of the MAC addresses that are printed on any standalone NC364T label. The MAC address printed on the adapter label coincides with the first port of the four ports on the adapter and can be successfully used to determine if the adapter is eligible for replacement.
Click on the appropriate link below to download the operating-system specific utility. After the utility has been run, return to this website and copy the results for any adapter that returns a status of "REPLACE" into the form under the "Place Order” link on the left nav bar of the main page, when you are prompted to enter the MAC addresses.
